School Incursions
Flying Heart offers a schools program aimed at inspiring imaginations and building young peoples creativity. Child research has shown us that development of the imagination is the foundation of intellectual and emotional growth and is essential for developing the cognitive faculties.
Our incursions will inject a blast of imaginative and creative energy into the class/school community, inspire kids to get creative and get physical and leave teachers with some resources to continue giving this to their students.
Our shows are dynamic and use the skills of physical theatre, circus, clown, puppetry and live music. They demonstrate the following elements:
- Voice and movement techniques - ways to create vocal sound effects and sound scapes, movement patterns, varying the elements of body, space, pace, time, stillness and energy in the creation of roles and shapes
- Role and character - symbols of role, status and power and stock character traits
- Dramatic structure and stage craft
The shows are interactive and also involve the use of volunteers providing the opportunity for the students to respond to their auditory and visual experience.
The shows can then be followed by a lecture demonstration/workshop on the concepts and skills used in the show. Volunteers will be invited to the stage to participate in exercises and use activities that involve the whole audience.
